Goodreads asked Catherine Lundoff:

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Catherine Lundoff Good question! I've got a few, though I admit that my mind runs to protagonists. I have a deep and abiding love for the following:
- Elizabeth Peter's Amelia Peabody books - Amelia and Emerson are Victorian archeologists who double as sleuths and they are complicated and fun characters whose relationship withstands a lot of drama.
- Melissa Scott's Trouble and Cerise in "Trouble and Her Friends." It's primarily a cyberpunk novel about virtual reality and corporate hacking, but it's also about building a relationship with your ex and second chances.
- Harriet and Lord Peter in Dorothy Sayer's "Gaudy Night." I don't particularly like Sayer's other work, but I love this book! A lot of non mystery-specific portions of the plot are about negotiating and building a good relationship, which I really appreciate.
- Elizabeth Bear's "Karen Memory." Karen and Priya are a charming couple and their courtship, replete with steampunk plot and teen awkwardness, is pretty adorbs.
- Belimai Sykes and Captain William Harper in Ginn Hale's "The Wicked Gentlemen." I like complicated couples who have to work their way into their relationships and these two definitely fit the bill!
