My favorite fictional couple is Eugenides and Attolia from Megan Whalen Turner's THE THIEF. I find predictable romances (even if they're conflicted in the beginning) a bit boring. But this one - you don't see coming at all. I really love when an author can make us despise a character one minute and then come full circle and be rooting for them later. That takes some talent!
