Gosh, from anywhere and nowhere. It can be a song, or a photo, something from TV. #Forfeit came along after I'd had a dream about this couple. I knew she'd be called Daisy and he'd be Xander, but I didn't know what to do with them.
A few days later, I was watching the Antiques Roadshow and they had this antique gambling ball on there. The expert explained that in Victorian times, people would make a list of forfeits, you'd roll the ball and do that numbered dare. And ping! There was the plot for Daisy and Xander.

Hi Caroline, just read your second book Nearly Almost Somebody and really enjoyed it. I was wondering if you had any plans to write another book using the chraracters from the town of Goswaithe? It was great seeing the characters of Forfeit in this new book. I found James from the first book to be an intriguing and exciting character. I would love s to see how he would pan out as leading hero in a novel.
