So when you say "couple" I suppose I should think in terms of "romantic pair" but because I tend to write "buddy reads" (Royce and Hadrian in Riyria, and Pax and Ellis in Hollow World), my mind first went to "buddy" groupings.
Over the years, I've seen a lot of inspiration in my work from a few couples:
* Kelly & Alexander from I Spy - a television show that ran in the late 60's.
* Sam and Al from Quantum Leap - another television show form the late 80's to early 90's
* Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid - The Robert Redford and Paul Neuman movie was one of the best I had ever seen at the time of it's release.
But my all time favorite has to be Frodo and Sam for The Lord of the Rings. I really loved the bonds of friendship between those two...and since LotR not only started me on the path of reading...but also made me want to be a writer. So that "pairing" will always have a special place in my heart.
But..I'm sure the question was meant to discover my favorite "romanic" couple and for that I'll have to go with Romeo and Juliet. It's just such a sad and tragic story. When Juliet wakes to find Romeo has killed himself -- man that's heartbreaking.

Hi there! I started reading your work with Age of Myth and fell in love with it. I consequently gobbled up the next two with joy. However, there will be a gap between last released and the rest of the series. I want to jump into the Riyria Chronicles but will it be a spoiler of the Legends of the First Empire? Since Legends is basically history before Riyria Chronicles? Thank you!

I have wanted to write for as long as I could remember. Fantasy setting of course. My biggest difficulty has been with the antagonist. I am just not sure how to develop them. My worry is that they would be too over the top, not believable. I have looked for writing workshops but haven't found any on this subject. Even asked another writer but never heard anything. What is your advice?

Michael, I am about finished with Theft of Swords. I love this book so much. You are quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, as I am just now getting deeper into reading fantasy novels. My question is, are you planning on a sequel to your Revelations series at all? I know you have more Chronicles planned, I hope, but I would love to see the further adventures of Royce and Hadrian.
