New authors want to get noticed. They need to build a following. One way is to go to book festivals, shows or conferences in many different cities or towns. These generally occur annually. I know you go to some. What would you consider as the can't miss book or author gathering? And is it open to new authors? Need to register? Pay $ up front etc.

With the exception of Thrillerfest in New York and the crime convention Bouchercon, which moves around, the festivals I attend are ones I've been invited to attend. But plenty of aspiring writers attend without an invitation, and if you are published, you might be asked to be on a panel. You do want, especially when starting out, to get your name out there. Just as is the case for aspiring politicians who hit every church supper and basement constituent meeting, there is a cumulative effect. Any one event may not build your name, but hitting ten or twenty may.

Hi! I absolutely love 'No time for Goodbye' and 'Never look away'. What gives you the ideas for these books? Because the storyline is unlike anything I have read before. At some points the ending in the books seemed obvious and I was all 'Should I even finish this book, I literally know how its gonna end.' But I've learnt not to underestimate your books, and they are awesome! From Tamar.

Hi? This is not exactly a question. I've just read your list of 23 mystery books on the "off the shelf" website (see answer below) and I probably know a couple of titles which you would have wanted to include, had you remembered to: The 39 Steps by John Buchan and one of my absolute favorite of all times, The Riddle of the Sands, by Erskine Childers, one of the very first book I read in English - I'm Italian). Thanks
