Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Kimelene Carr Sans Espoir originally was a story that my husband woke one Sunday evening and told me. He knew how much I used to love writing as a teen so encouraged me to develop his story ideas. I agreed and not too long after I began working on the characters, a very good friend of mine was killed rather tragically so his death inspired part of the story as well as his life influenced that of one of the main characters of Sans Espoir. Being from Trinidad, I thought that my debut novel should showcase part of our local culture hence the reason for the use of colloquial language.
