Why this cover photo?

J. Schlenker I was given good advice that your cover photo should be of you, but for now I want it to be of Sally. This is my work in progress. Although it will be fictional, it is based on the life of a woman I met only briefly when I was eight. It was 1961. She was 103. She was born into slavery in the area in which I've lived most all of my life. When I started this writing endeavor, the subject of Sally was what came to my mind. I researched Sally for nearly three years, but went on to other things. How could I really tell her story, when all the accounts I got were confusing? This year I am finally attempting it. Fiction is the only way as I cannot truly know her life. I hope to have it finished by late spring or early summer.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one that gets butterflies. I've watched weavers before and wow, I have no idea how a person keeps up with all that, it's impressive. Cool thing to do. I've woodworked for many years, but last year my wife and I decided to start stockpiling so we can go to a show or two next year (she does stained glass). The shows I mean are just to sell things. Jurors? I'm not brave (or good) enough!

She's on holiday at the moment, so in a couple of weeks when she gets back she's going to do the final fine tuning and then...scary, I'm going to throw it out there.
