Sherlock Holmes and John Watson (No, I don't think there was a romance between the two, but they are a couple nevertheless). Holmes needs Watson, otherwise he could not shine; but Watson needs Holmes for the same reason a dog needs his master. The life of Watson would be too lame otherwise.
