“If I want a different, more positive, more attentive, more passionate kind of love, then I have to be brave enough to stand up for myself and ask for it. Demand it, even. And not settle for anything less than what I want and need for myself. But, she realised, I also have to be open to receiving love in my body as it is right now. Not ‘one day’, when I finally decide that I’m worthy of it. I have to go after what I want right now, instead of just hoping that it will happen to me eventually. And if I get hurt in the process, then at least I can say that it wasn’t because I didn’t try. I have to choose, and then fight for, my own happiness.”
