“When they stopped believing and trusting God, they became afraid and ashamed. Cut off from God, they lost their way. Apart from God, it was hard to be sure of who they were, if they were safe, and what they were to be doing outside the garden. Since then every human being is born into a life in which these three questions consume our energies and attention: “Who am I?” “Will I be OK?” and “What am I to be about in life?”
