“There is an important difference between being an Adventist, one who believes in the imminent return of Jesus, and being an escapist. Any eschatology which discourages social activism or blinds itself to human need by focusing only on evangelism and personal salvation is not the eschatology of Jesus Christ. Adventist eschatology does not deny the importance of ministering to the whole person nor does it base its hope on the belief that the humanitarian activities of God’s people will in some way usher in the millennial Kingdom of Christ. Adventists believe that they are to live in constant anticipation of the Lord’s return, but to await Christ’s coming by being responsible stewards in this world.[”
