“সেদিন সকালে খবর এল বিনয় মজুমদার আর নেই। সেটা ছিল ১১ ডিসেম্বর। এর মাত্র কয়েকদিন আগে, এই ডিসেম্বরেরই এক সকালে বাইশ বছরের এক বিজ্ঞানছাত্রী আমাকে জানিয়েছে, আগের রাত্রে একটি বই সে পড়ে শেষ করেছে। তার আগে কয়েকদিন সারাক্ষণ ব্যাগের মধ্যে এই বইটি নিয়ে ইউনিভার্সিটি যাওয়া-আসা করছিল সে। বাসের জানলার ধারে বসে আবার আর একবার খুলে দেখছিল কোনও কোন বিশেষ পৃষ্ঠা। কী বই ছিল সেটি?
সে জানায়ঃ ফিরে এসো, চাকা। আছন্নতা কাটছে না তার। সে আজ বাড়িতে বইটি রেখে এসেছে, কিন্ত সারাক্ষণ তার ইচ্ছে করছে বইটির কাছে ফিরে যেতে। এই কবি কোথায় থাকেন? কিছুই প্রায় জানে না এই নতুন পাঠিকা। তাই আমার কাছে জানতে চায় কবির বিষয়ে।
আমার মনে পড়ল, এই ‘ফিরে এসো,চাকা’র শেষ কবিতাটির তলায় লেখা তারিখটিকে। ২৯ শে জুন ১৯৬২। ৪৪ বছর আগে বইটি লেখা হয়েছিল। অর্থাৎ বইটির বয়স মেয়েটির দিগুণ। তা-ই তো হওয়ার কথা। যেসব বইয়ের সঙ্গে আমাদের সম্পর্ক হয়, তারা তো বেশির ভাগ ক্ষেত্রে অসমবয়সি সম্পর্কের অংশীদার।”
