“A man cannot un-see the truth. He cannot willingly return to darkness or go blind once he has the gift of sight, anymore than he can be unborn.

We are the only species capable of self-reflection. The only species with the toxin of self-doubt written into our genetic code. Unequal to our gifts we build, we buy, we consume. We wrap ourselves in the illusion of material success. We cheat and deceive as we claw our way to the pinnacle of what we define as achievement; superiority to other men.

But there is a sickness inside us. Rising like the bile that leaves that bitter taste at the back of our throats. We do our best to deny its existence, dealing in lies and distraction. Until one day the body rebels against the mind and screams out… I am not a well man. Only when we know what ails us can we hope to find the cure.”
    Justin Haythe

“Convince yourself everyday that you are worthy of a good life. Let go of stress, breathe. Stay positive, all is well.”

“Those who mistrust their own abilities are being too wicked to themselves, discouraging themselves from doing what they should have been excelling in. If you are good at discouraging yourself, you can't be a good leader because leadership is built on inspiring others to face challenges.”
    Israelmore Ayivor

“If you can’t believe in miracles, then believe in yourself. When you want something bad enough, let that drive push you to make it happen. Sometimes you’ll run into brick walls that are put there to test you. Find a way around them and stay focused on your dream. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
    Isabel Lopez, Isabel's Hand-Me-Down Dreams

    Chetan Bhagat
“Disappointment will come when your effort does not give you the expected return. If things don’t go as planned or if you face failure. Failure is extremely difficult to handle, but those that do come out stronger. What did this failure teach me? is the question you will need to ask. You will feel miserable. You will want to quit, like I wanted to when nine publishers rejected my first book. Some IITians kill themselves over low grades – how silly is that? But that is how much failure can hurt you. But it’s life. If challenges could always be overcome, they would cease to be a challenge. And remember – if you are failing at something, that means you are at your limit or potential. And that’s where you want to be.
Disappointment’ s cousin is Frustration, the second storm. Have you ever been frustrated? It happens when things are stuck. This is especially relevant in India. From traffic jams to getting that job you deserve, sometimes things take so long that you don’t know if you chose the right goal. After books, I set the goal of writing for Bollywood, as I thought they needed writers. I am called extremely lucky, but it took me five years to get close to a release. Frustration saps excitement, and turns your initial energy into something negative, making you a bitter person. How did I deal with it? A realistic assessment of the time involved – movies take a long time to make even though they are watched quickly, seeking a certain enjoyment in the process rather than the end result – at least I was learning how to write scripts, having a side plan – I had my third book to write and even something as simple as pleasurable distractions in your life – friends, food, travel can help you overcome it. Remember, nothing is to be taken seriously. Frustration is a sign somewhere, you took it too seriously.”
    Chetan Bhagat

“Love is like dried flowers sometimes. Even though you watch the petals shrink and change colour, you cannot help treasuring them”

    “THE WEATHER OF LOVE

    Love
    Has a way of wilting
    Or blossoming
    At the strangest,
    Most unpredictable hour.
    This is how love is,
    An uncontrollable beast
In the form of a flower.
The sun does not always shine on it.
Nor does the rain always pour on it
Nor should it always get beaten by a storm.
Love does not always emit the sweetest scents,
And sometimes it can sting with its thorns.
    Water it.
    Give it plenty of sunlight.
    Nurture it,
And the flower of love will
    Outlive you.
Neglect it or keep dissecting it,
And its petals will quickly curl up and die.
    This is how love is,
    Perfection is a delusional vision.
So love the person who loves you
    Unconditionally,
    And abandon the one
    Who only loves you
    Under favorable
    Conditions.”
Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

“When the whole world is entrenched in the bunker of physical and often emotional isolation, only flexibility and ingenuity can revive us to remain grounded and imbibe the bolstering sunlight piercing through the canvas of chaos. (Because the world has corona)”
    Erik Pevernagie

    Donna Tartt
“…I’ve come to realize that the only truths that matter to me are the ones I don’t, and can’t, understand. What’s mysterious, ambiguous, inexplicable. What doesn’t fit into a story, what doesn’t have a story. Glint of brightness on a barely-there chain. Patch of sunlight on a yellow wall. The loneliness that separates every living creature from every other living creature. Sorrow inseparable from joy.”
    Donna Tartt, The Goldfinch

    Richard Siken
“Sunlight pouring across your skin, your shadow
    flat on the wall.
The dawn was breaking the bones of your heart like twigs.
    You had not expected this,
the bedroom gone white, the astronomical light pummeling
you in a stream of fists.
You raised your hand to your face as if
to hide it, the pink fingers gone gold as the light
    streamed straight to the bone,
as if you were the small room closed in glass
With every speck of dust illuminated.
    The light is no mystery,
the mystery is that there is something to keep the light
    From passing through.”
    Richard Siken, Crush

“Wise is the one who flavors the future with some salt from the past. Becoming dust is no threat to the phoenix born from the ash.”
