Erik Pevernagie
“Understanding” may become “misunderstanding”, if no commitment or no responsibilities are assumed, no specific objectives set, no definite expectations met and common values and interests no longer shared. Mutual understanding may then, against all odds, end up in heartache, confusion and bewilderment. ("Mutual understanding" )”
Erik Pevernagie

Jodi Picoult
“It's never the differences between people that surprise us. It's the things that, against all odds, we have in common.”
Jodi Picoult, House Rules

Oliver Gaspirtz
“Although I'm an atheist, I try not to crap all over people's belief in God. It may be nothing more than a placebo, a fairy tale that gives the hopeless hope, but sometimes a little hope is all people need to get through the day. Imagine a unit of soldiers under heavy enemy fire. They are told by their superiors to hold their position, even in the face of overwhelming fire power. The soldiers are being told that reinforcements are on the way, and that thought alone gives them the hope and courage to continue fighting, even if ultimately the reinforcements never arrive. I think some people simply need to believe that God is sending them reinforcements, to get through another day.”
Oliver Gaspirtz

Saim .A. Cheeda
“Be strong. Even when you can't be.”
Saim .A. Cheeda

“What matters most, is not how my end happens, or if it happens now. What I care about in this instant, is that she knows how much I love her—that I lived long enough to have her love me back.”
Emm Cole, Keeping Merminia

“There shall always be that voice that will tell you how you are wasting your time and ability, how you shall fail, how some tried and failed, why your prevailing slips are indications of your future doom, why you are unworthy to dare, why your background mismatches your vision and aspiration, why your personality misfits your mission and how arduous the errand is. You have a choice. You have your thought. You have what burns in you that tells you how you can make it. Though the world may be interested in your success, it is much interested in your slips and mediocrity as-well. Your vision must keep you in your mission. Dare in wisdom. Dare unrelentingly. Ponder!”
Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

Anthony Liccione
“Ever notice the word 'rough' in through? There is truth to that, though the way may be rough, we are still able to get through it.”
Anthony Liccione

Jerome Groopman
“Hope is one of our central emotions, but we are often at a loss when asked to define it. Many of us confuse hope with optimism, a prevailing attitude that "things turn out for the best." But hope differs from optimism. Hope does not arise from being told to "Think Positively," or from hearing an overly rosy forecast. Hope, unlike optimism, is rooted in unalloyed reality. Although there is no uniform definition of hope, I found on that seemed to capture what my patients had taught me. Hope is the elevating feeling we experience when we see - in the mind's eye- a path to a better future. Hope acknowledges the significant obstacles and deep pitfalls along that path. True hope has no room for delusion.”
Jerome Groopman, The Anatomy of Hope: How People Prevail in the Face of Illness

“Do not be sad that all odds are against you; be happy that your real purpose is by you”
Ernest Agyemang Yeboah, The Arduous Errand: a voyage across the ocean

Ahmed Mostafa
“Why don't I just go against all reason, ignore past experiences and fall in love with you?”
Ahmed Mostafa

“Keep this in mind, my friends: don’t expect life to love you always! In life, you shall sometimes see true rejection and know the real meaning of rejection, but the more life and the people in your life reject you, all the more, get closer to God, and you shall see and know His real and true love!”
Ernest Agyemang Yeboah

Vishwas Chavan
“When your resolve to succeed is unshakable, no 'odds' can stand between you and your success. Look at our parents. In their own way, they have demonstrated before us: how to survive and prosper against all odds!”
Vishwas Chavan, VishwaSutras: Universal Principles For Living: Inspired by Real-Life Experiences

Patricia Vanasse
“I've learned that the only things we are in control of are the choices we make at any one given moment.”
Patricia Vanasse, Against All Odds

“Wishing is a form of inspiration for the lazy mind but taking Action, Persisting and finding alternative routes to your destination against all odds is the definition of a SUCCESSFUL Venture.”
Oscar Bimpong

Try to embrace them instead.”
Anoir Ou-chad

Stefan Emunds

“At the end of it all, you will not be remembered for only your thoughts, but for the things you got done against all odds. Make it your goal to achieve greatness in life.”

“You are not defined by your past, your struggles, or your circumstances. You are defined by your strength, your kindness, and your ability to overcome. Keep pushing forward, and know that you are never alone.”
Lynda Dodds

C.L. Lauder
“She looks both determined and fierce. I hardly recognize her. She’s nothing like the broken, tormented wreck I know is wallowing on the inside. If I can be her for just one day, maybe I’ll have a chance to do this one thing right”
C.L. Lauder, The Quelling: Befriend your enemy, save your friend.

“Climb That Mountain (Poem)
***

There is a mountain placed before us.
It's wide, big; high above the clouds.
With no way around it;
no choice about it.
Just to climb it,
even through low sighs.

Some mountains, we choose.
Often those that we pursue
are easy to climb.
They leave no bruise;
we step on them like crumbs.
No sweat, no fuse.
But also no valuable lesson.
Just an excuse after an excuse.

There are harsh sessions on the high mountain.
Hard lessons on the big mountain.
No breaks, no fountains.
Just hardships and rough times.
No awards, no rewards.
Just emotional, mental tides and fines.

Fine, we usually accept the challenge.
Out of options, we welcome the change.
An exchange of comfort for caution.
We become deranged for family.
For our children, friends, even lovers.
Some lovers who may become an enemy.
We become a destiny with no back covers.
With our back against the wall.
Our back totally exposed to all.

But, step by step,
day by day,
with our veins, we climb up but not in vain.
Some days we want to go back to our fortress.
Some days we only see black, no success.
But, after a while, mounting in grime,
we forget about the pain.
The hardships start to fade.

We start to familiarise the pain with the trees.
We accept the bushes and rocks as home.
We follow the footsteps of animals and bees;
looking for shortcuts to roam.
Seeking solace in the shade of what we see.
We seek and become one with isolation.

In isolation, we start to rely on ourselves more.
We learn to love all our sores;
to trust our own instincts.
We become stronger and sharper in senses.
And the stronger we become,
the faster we mount in fun.
In the end, we reach the top.
Out of it all,
we come out unbreakable, alive.
Tired but, surely, revived.”

Justice Aaron Fowler
“Hope is never the loudest voice-it's the quiet hum beneath despair, the fragile thread we follow when the world seems intent on unraveling.”
Justice Aaron Fowler, The Despondent

Lailah Gifty Akita

J.R.R. Tolkien
“Heart shall be bolder, harder be purpose,
more proud the spirit as our power lessens!
Mind shall not falter nor mood waver,
though doom shall come and dark conquer.”

“They have been busy digging a grave for you. Not knowing that their own time of death is set to be right after they're done digging. Shush! Don't lift even a finger because they'll be resting in the same grave that they've been digging for you. Your order of protection is far from expirying. You're fully covered.”
