“Beyond a thin veil of space stretched Existence, the frailest and most imbalanced reality of the cosmos. No one was really sure why it was imbalanced, but some believed it had something to do with the general alcohol consumption per capita.”

“Maybe we should be looking at how we live, and how our minds weren’t made for the lives we lead. Human brains – in terms of cognition and emotion and consciousness – are essentially the same as they were at the time of Shakespeare or Jesus or Cleopatra or the Stone Age. They are not evolving with the pace of change. Neolithic humans never had to face emails or breaking news or pop-up ads or Iggy Azalea videos or a self-service checkout at a strip-lit Tesco Metro on a busy Saturday night. Maybe instead of worrying about upgrading technology and slowly allowing ourselves to be cyborgs we should have a little peek at how we could upgrade our ability to cope with all this change.”

“If you want to know why the human primate behaves the way it does, I can easily explain:
1. human life span
2. human physiology at each stage of life="hormones"
3. our current state of evolution (still primitive in many ways).
Humans are the only species on earth aware of their own deaths. They aren't here for long so they are very concerned with the quality of their lives more so than the quality of the lives that will come after them. It is our life spans that trap us, make us truly incapable of long-term decisions which would require sacrifice we as a species are not willing to make.
Hormones: at each life stage, we are influenced heavily by hormones-raging levels in the young male or not, descending in the middle aged man or woman. Hormones also influence our behavior.
Lastly, we are not out of the oven yet as far as evolution goes, still prone to settle our differences through primitive means--greed and violence.
Here is a thought question for you-how would things differ if the average human could expect to live 200 years instead of 70+-?”

“Another object lesson of why humans should have stayed in trees, where they could not behave in such an idiotic way. Or possibly we should never have emerged from the sea. Evolution, Phryne sometimes thought, had a long way to go before the Homo became even close to Sapiens.”

“There are still fierce pressure groups shouting about letting go of humanity, but they are the same groups who cry that Bioforms are less than human. One day the world will be ready to accept that humanity, just as it not constrained by skin colour, gender or nation, is not a condition penned into any one shape.”

“One of the most fascinating aspect of humans is their 'object of fascination' which makes them remarkably unique from each other!” ”

“The glacial landscape reminded her that she was, first and foremost, a human living on a planet. Almost everything she had done in her life, she realised - almost everything she has bought and worked for and consumed - had taken her away from understanding that she and all humans were really just one of nine million species.”

“A sharp drop in global temperature 115 thousand years before the fall was the start of sporadic ice ages. The last glacial spell Earthers experienced ended only 12.5 TBF.”

“All humans learn from each other's mistakes. Intelligent humans learn how to avoid them, idiots how to do them.”

“To learn a thing perspective matters why? Because to learn it's best to have perspective of the person who created the thing rather than learning as it's predecessor!”

“The relationship humans continue to search for is nothing more than connectedness to self, selves and the enigmatic energy force of all life.”

“Sadly, there's no natural balance between war and peace. It takes two tribes to make peace, but it only takes one to start a war.”

“Life is full of unrealistic expectations, strange behaviours, and people who disguise their true nature — so don’t be surprised when things look absurd.”
