Lebo Grand, Sensual Lifestyle

“When I got back to my billet I found my farmer at table with his wife and niece.
“Tell me,” I said to him; “how many instruments do you think a pilot has to look after?”
“How should I know? Not my trade,” he answered. “Must be some missing, though, to my way of thinking. The ones you win a war with. Have some supper?”

“Existence is mathematical music, and all of us are the instruments playing the cosmic symphony. Our task is simple - to arrive not at any old music, but the finest music that can possibly be played. The ideal music is reached when every player is in perfect harmony with every other player, and not a single discordant note is played.”
Steve Madison, The Musical Theory of Existence: Hearing the Music of the Spheres

“That's because the guitar is speaking to you, bringing your senses alive. Music is an age-old language. It speaks to everyone, young and old. It lifts the spirit and touches the heart, when it stops it lives on inside you, making you richer in mind and spirit.”

David Brooks
“Abraham Lincoln suffered through depression through his life and then suffered through the pain of conducting a civil war, and emerged with the sense that Providence had taken control of his life, that he was a small instrument in a transcendent task.”

“Imagine that you are on the street and someone attacks you. If you feel that you must fight back to defend yourself, you might instinctively make a fist and punch at the attacker’s head. In the heat of the moment, you might try to do this over and over again, using one instrument against one target. While natural, this may not be the most effective approach, especially against a competent attacker. Rather, you want to “work the whole body.” Instead of focusing narrowly on one target, or using only one method of attack, more experienced fighters will consider all of their instruments (two hands, two feet, knees, elbows, nearby items that can be used for defense, and so on) and evaluate all potential areas that could be targeted.”
Deepak Malhotra, Negotiating the impossible: how to break deadlocks and resolve ugly conflicts

Seanan McGuire
“The tunes he played on that instrument wouldn't be audible to the living. That didn't mean they wouldn't be real.”
Seanan McGuire, Every Heart a Doorway

André van Eck, From Beginner to Excelling at Guitar & Bass

Jules Wake
“Will you teach me something?"
I was about to say no, the viola really wasn’t the instrument to start learning with, but she’d been said no to a lot in her short life.”
Jules Wake, Notting Hill in the Snow

Abhijit Naskar
“It's not about avoiding ai, it's about delegating menial tasks to ai - fire, steam, electricity, internet, ai, these are all tools, sooner or later you will adopt it.”
Abhijit Naskar, With Love From A Blue Rock

Laura Resau
“She gazed, mesmerized, at the water, unknowable in the shadows, until a sunbeam found its way in, at just the right angle, and reached into the depths with a flash of blue-green. Light reflected off bronze, and she glimpsed the carnyx. It was real, this instrument.
She heard her voice emerge like a dragon's. And she felt her selves join. Singer and listener became one and the same.”
Laura Resau, The River Muse

“Feeling light and free, she pulled him along, toward the source of La Chanson, which was calling to them. As their strides synchronized, she glanced at the river, braids of aquamarine and sapphire and emerald, like Luc’s irises. She snuck a sideways look at them, refracting and reflecting the water’s light.
As they approached the limestone cliffs that hid the source, he broke the pocket of silence. “You channel something when you sing. Something bigger than yourself.”
She took this in, looking up at the towering white stone, a natural temple, then glanced toward the cavern beside them, with its deep pool of water far below in the shadows.
“Like an underground spring,” he said.
She met his gaze, etched his words into her mind, engraved them into her heart. He understood her. She was just leaning toward his lips, when she heard a rumbling from the depths. The carnyx.
Luc gasped. “Did you see that?”
Oui.” She straightened up and turned back to face him. “I saw it the other time I was here too.”
He looked at her in wonder. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, Callie… and you’re two for two?”
She felt the music coming from inside and outside and everywhere. All at once. If she opened her mouth, a song might pour out. On impulse, she grabbed Luc by the collar, pulled him close. Their kiss was a duet, soft and feathery at first, then growing more intense. Their music intermingled from a hidden source, and the river music swelled, rich and deep.
He laughed too. “I wish we’d come here sooner.”
“So do I.”
He raised an eyebrow. “I think La Chanson wants you to stay.”
“You think?”
From the depths came another roar, straight from a dragon’s mouth.”
Laura Resau, The River Muse

Laura Resau
“The carnyx—like Pepito— was an ancient source of power in her life. It was more than an artifact— it was a treasure whose bond with her ran deep and strong.
Somehow, the carnyx had survived for millennia in the depths of a watery cave. Admittedly, she didn’t fully understand how this was possible. A patina forming over the bronze, preventing rust? Something about the water chemistry? The unique geology of the limestone cave system? Or was it something more… magical?
She wasn’t clear either, how, at certain times, when she most needed it, she heard the carnyx roar. Was it the water rushing through tunnels, angled through the six-foot-long instrument? Or was it a mythical force that brought the dragon to life, made the carnyx rumble in her bones like a battle cry?”
Laura Resau, The River Muse
