“In fact, the teenager's concept of "square" (f the term is still in use), when they talk about their parents, is almost identical to the concept of "cultural deprivation" as it is used by educational bureaucrats. In both cases it reflects an extremely self-centered and rigid way of looking at the world. Fortunately, with teenagers, it's a phase they grow out of.”

“Large Squares, 1965 -Last Beetle
The body is much the same as the previous model, aside from increase in window size all round. Door handles and lock mechanisms also changed as well as seat and dashboard designs. Chrome beading became thinner, mounting holes for these also smaller. Chrome was later replaced by black anodizing or plastic to try and modernize the Bug. Tail light clusters changed from the oval shape to the ‘headstone’ and then the ‘elephant’s foot’ jumbo units the bug saw its last days with. In 1965 new larger windows all round. 1966 saw the last 6v bug, and also the first 1300cc motor. Those horrible little air vents behind the rear side windows came out in 1971 that caused lots of rusty bugs. Sloping headlights looked much nicer but went out in 1967.”

What is a Square account?
A Square account provides businesses with a comprehensive platform for payment processing, e-commerce, customer engagement, and financial management, often starting with a free Point of Sale (POS) system and credit card reader to accept in-person and online sales. It offers tools for inventory, appointments, marketing, and even business banking services like checking accounts and loans, all integrated into one system accessible via the Square Dashboard.

What bank is with Square?
Square uses Sutton Bank for its Square Checking accounts and debit cards. For other services like loans and savings, it uses Square Financial Services, Inc., which is a Utah-chartered industrial bank. While Square is a financial services company and not a bank itself, these affiliated banks provide the necessary banking services.
Square Checking: Banking services are provided by Sutton Bank, a Member FDIC.
Loans and Savings: These are issued by Square Financial Services, Inc., which is also a Member FDIC.
Block, Inc.: This is the parent company that offers financial services through Square, but it is not a bank itself.
What is the downside of Square?
Square charges a flat fee per transaction, which can add up over time, particularly for businesses with high sales volumes. This fee structure can be burdensome for a business like a boutique or a restaurant that processes a high volume of small transactions.
