Jon Stanton I enjoyed it immensely, but then North Woods is one of my favorite books of all time, so...I may be a bit biased.

Jason I also loved North Woods. I'm finding this a bit of a slog, though. I just have a hard time caring about characters like this and find the whole thing so banal. I'm just under halfway through, though.

Jon Stanton I get that. The characters aren’t as engaging as those in North Woods. I enjoy the unusual characters, like the teacher who is also a survivalist, and the guy who drives the old ambulance. I also enjoyed Wesley’s precociousness and lack of fear of challenging adults. I wish my nerdy self would have been like that when I was a kid!

Jason You know: I read a little more of it today, and it's starting to pick up. I still don't think I'm going to enjoy it as much as North Woods, but I'm starting to find it engaging. I still don't love that the central character is such a loser, but that's hard to avoid in contemporary literature.
