These are all semi-depressing historical novels. The Color Purple is fiction and the other two are written by people who experienced some tragic events. The Rwandan Genocide and World War II. They are not thrillers, if that's what you meant by "page turners," but they are some books that I greatly enjoyed and failed to put down for too long.
