I remember reading an excerpt some time ago and not liking the set-up and the characters... :-/
Really? That's a pity. If you read only the first few chapters I think I know what you mean but this is also one of those series that gets better and better with each new book. And, I'm not sure I know how to explain it, what you get to see in the beginning makes things look a certain way but in reality they are totally different. It has to do with the memory loss of the main character and you only start understanding what happened in the beginning when you’ve read some more of the character's story. I personally think the beginninng is a bit misleading. Do you see how I'm trying to convince you to maybe give this another shot at some point? ;-)
Haha. Good thing you told me, I was totally oblivious to your scheming ways. ;-)
Yeah, I read only the first few chapters on Amazon, and their first encounter and the ensuing insta-lust stuff made my eyes roll.
But you're saying it gets better later on?
Hehe :-)
That's the thing! It's not insta lust at all but you only understand what I mean if you keep reading. I thought the exact same thing when I started this. I was like, oh no, not this again but I'm really glad I stuck with it because things are not what they seem. You'll understand that one particular scene when you learn more about the characters. I just can't tell you more without spoiling you. :-)
