Another book you might like is "Uglies". The main character is female; she's not a tough "kick butt" type necessarily, but she certainly faces some action. It's not as high impact as Divergent, but it's a pretty good read.
Have you read "The Knife of Never Letting Go"? It's also the first book of a trilogy, lots of action like Divergent. The main character is a boy, but the secondary character is female and she plays a very strong role in the story.
