Ok, so I recently read this series, and it's also science fiction!!! It's called the Insignia trilogy by S J Kinciad and it's super underrated! As a brief summary, the protagonist (Tom Raines) who's 14 gets scouted by this military training academy, which inserts neural (spelled wrong probably but whatevs) processors into kid's brains (cause adult brains can't adapt). With those processors, the kids can now have access to a bunch of info, do cool VR stuff, and they're eventually training to fight in a spce war. Tom then realizes that he has an extra special ability so he can do stuff other trainees can't. He also becomes friends with an enemy soldier, who's actually a girl his age!!! Then he gets mixed up in a bunch of politics and legal stuff, and ends up overthrowing the big bad guy!
So, I recently finished this series, and I REALLY need someone to yap about it with, bc not many ppl know about it. The characters and their relationships and friendships are absolutely ADORABLE, and their inside jokes are rly funny. Pls read it I need someone to yap to and I think you might like it!!! xoxo <3
