Have you tried North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell? Great book.
I see you are reading, The Shadow of the Wind. It is one of my favorites and it really sparked my imagination.
It's a great book. Did you read any of the sequels?
I think one, but I don't remember if it had the same character.
The second one doesn't, but the third that just came out last year does. Those two are next. :)
