I recommend the Home Repair is Homicide series. It takes place in Maine. I also recommend Thomas Perry's Jane Whitefield series. It takes place in upstate New York, but I think you'll like it. These two recs are very different & not as funny as Evanovich, but I've enjoyed them very much.
