My name is Kelly, and I'm a reviewer at www.FantasyLiterature.com. In "real life" I'm an academic secretary in Illinois. I am a huge bibliophile and am always looking for new books to devour.
I'm especially fond of historical fantasy and urban fantasy, which seem very different on the surface, but I think the common thread is the intersection of the magical and the familiar. I also read some paranormal romance, some mystery, some historical fiction, and various other things as they strike my fancy.
If you want to talk books with me and read my reviews, feel free to add me! If you are a serial adder and have 2 books and 45738 friends, or if you are promoting your book without looking to see whether it fits my interests, I may ignore the request. If you're promoting a book that is right up my alley, friend away!
My rating system:
5 stars: I loved this book! Worked on all levels: prose and story, intellectual and emotional. Gushing may occur.
4 stars: I liked this book. A solid piece of entertainment. Might have minor flaws, but they didn't detract from my enjoyment.
3 stars: This book was OK. Might have good and bad points that cancelled each other out, or might have stayed at "just OK" level throughout. It passed the time, but I probably won't remember it in a year.
2 stars: I disliked this book. Might have been boring or had major plot holes or mechanical problems. If I were stuck at the laundromat with this book, I'd feel a sudden urge to read the laundromat's 1998 copies of Good Housekeeping.
1 star: I hated this book. A 1-star book generally either had massive mechanical problems or made me so angry that I wish I'd never read it.
(I round half-star ratings up to the nearest star for Goodreads purposes.)
