Gas or Ass is a great series. The first book is a little bit tense but books 2 and 3 make up for it in spades and diamonds. I think it’s more in line for what you’re looking for.

Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night is a great series to get into and it is available at most libraries. As well as, Suzanne Wright’s series, “The Mercury Pack” and “The Pheonix Pack.”
