Today, she channels her extensive background into creating diverse, reader-centered works for children and teens, with a special passion for helping reluctant readers find themselves within the pages.
She is the creator of the Joshua Creed middle-grade fantasy series—inspired directly by her own son and reimagined from The Ancient Sacred Tree Chronicles. The series follows a four-book arc, starting with a new edition of Joshua Creed: Keeper of Worlds slated for 2026, alongside its highly anticipated sequel, Joshua Creed: Curse of the Faet, releasing in July 2026.
Beyond fantasy, Dawnette is the author of three children’s books and the published young adult novel Exit Signs, which follows the life and profound obstacles of Stella Hart (with further YA work currently in editing). Her upcoming projects include two middle-grade mysteries and a humorous new trilogy.
A devoted grandmother of six, Dawnette also dedicates her time to supporting families who have lost a child to cancer. Deeply committed to the educational community, she is eager to serve as an author speaker in schools to connect directly with students and staff.
