Two characters visit what seems to be a nursing home. It turns out the place is actually a magical facility that feeds on the pain of its resident(s).. The scene is only a small part of the story. The visitors go there to get information from someone and discover that he is basically being tortured. Because he was an evil person or dark magician, they leave him there. I think the caregivers might be gray or black witches. That detail makes me think it could be from Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson or Alpha & Omega series, but I’m not sure.
