Hi all. I'd like to start the new year by reading more. As a 35 year old male, I enjoy the fantasy genre but don't shy away from thrillers or mystery novels.

The last books I've really enjoyed are written by Leigh Bardugo. I'm not looking for something that is the usual YA trope-ridden novel but something in the genres of... fantasy. Just a nice page-turner to start off an old hobby.
I find fantasy novels where a lot of is leaning on exposition tiring and the usual YA novels are very woman driven with the classic but overtired tropes like... handsome male counterpart and chosen one vibes.
I'd like to tip my toes into something... different. ...more
