The small town can be under some spell that makes it impossible or hard for humans to see or enter the town. The small town can also be under some curse or something like that. As long as it is magic and has some magical creatures and is magical etc.
These genres are the ones I am looking for:
Romantasy. Cozy romance. Paranormal Romance. Monster Romance. (And all other genres with a vibe of Fantasy, Paranormal or Monster romance..)
I DO want:
M+F couples. (mainly/primarily) But also M+M couples and F+F couples. Main characters that are 30+. A story that has a good balance between magic, romance and paranormal things and creatures. Romance/love that is romance/love and Not just lust. Good world-building. Main characters that are not formulaic. (So diversity/inclusion) Strong and confident heroines.
I DO NOT want:
Main characters under the age of 25. A story that is bogged down with superficial and shallow main characters that only/mainly think about each others looks/bodies and sex. “Clean”romance. Insta-lust or insta-love. Clichés. Mary Sue characters. Gary Stu characters. Misogynistic main characters. Toxic relationships. Non-con or dub-con. All-powerful/invincible main characters. Sexually inexperienced heroines. Naive or willfully ignorant heroines. Formulaic or generic main characters.
Diversity and inclusion is something that is important to me on all levels…. Including in romance books and the romance genre… but also other fiction books/genres.
All different kinds of representation are really important and matter. (Size, age, abilities, ethnicity, race, sexuality etc. etc.)
So much more representation is needed in the romance genre but also better and positive representation... and sincere/genuine representation of diversity/inclusion.
Research is always a author's best friend! It makes for a better and more believable book/plot but also better and more believable characters.
If these things above ⬆️ are important to you or at least on your radar that is great… If not consider just following my reviews.
I have created 45 different lists on Goodreads Listopia.... Maybe take a look.🙂
