Male pov - yes (although it does occasionally switch)
Coming of age - yeah... you do see him grow up but it nots based around a moral of growing or something.
Dark elements - yes definitely- tanith lee is a very, very unique writer and tends to specialize in the dark stuff.
A lot of mature themes and defs not for the a young audience or a very conventional one at that.
give it a shot if you like what you read from blurb - otherwise dw :)
