she said: " The closest I've read is Child 44 and the sequel, both haunting beyond belief. Also read Russian Winter by Daphne Kalotay, and though it's not late 80s, it gives a vivid depiction of Soviet Moscow and the way things worked with privileges, etc. A great place and timeframe, Nichole.
