Okay, so I think you might like this series. When I heard action and peril, this series immediately pops into my head. There's a lot of action as the book involves banshees and hellions (yeah, try to wrap that one around your head!)and the romance becomes more epic in the 3-4th book. They're very light reads so it shouldn't take you very long to read My Soul to Take and determine whether it's something you'd like or not. For me, though, they sucked me in right at the beginning :)

This is the other book that I recommend. This one is very trippy and very, very, dark. It does have action and it's one of the ones that will leaving you saying "wait, what?!" at the end (similarly to how Unearthly left me). There is romance in this book and as it's subtle at the beginning, it becomes more clear as you read on.
I actually wrote my Undergraduate thesis about this book, so needless to say, it's very intriguing. Let me know if you decide to give any of my recommendations a try!
