I buy you books, and buy you books, and all you do is chew the covers. My dad used to say this, I always thought it funny. I do not know where he got it from, I wish I had asked him. He was - like me - a lover of books. I do not remember the day, but I told my mom I was not going back to pre-school. They wanted me to take a nap, I had not finished my book, I declined the offer, they were not pleased. She did not make me go back, but took me with her to my sister's school where she was working at the library! I sat on the floor and read books - Perfect!!! As a teen I spent so much time in the local bookstore, people asked me where books were, since I was usually sitting on the floor (before bookstores put in comfy chairs). Instead of explaining I did not work there - I just took them to the requested book, since I knew. My EX-husband suggested I put all my books in a storage unit. Notice the EX. I told my mom about it that night, she asked "Doesn't he know those are your friends?" Who is in the storage unit now? I lived in Grosse Pointe Michigan, and worked at the Waldenbooks a few blocks away, I was responsible for all the store decoration (which meant I gave myself a certificate of master origami - all those cardboard stands with advertising photos suck to put together, I made my own out of the pieces often). I loved dressing the windows - and we were a big store on a busy corner - a lot of windows! I kept one for local author new books. There was a cool book about a single woman, travel, and red high heels! So my red FM pumps were the center of the display, a guy locked his keys in his car looking at it. I used to read while walking every day to and from work. A lady came in the store and said that she watched out of her window for me to pass her house because she had never seen anyone do this. I wonder back now if she was secretly waiting for me to trip? LOL. I never did.
