I love romances set in Ireland. Whether contemporary or historical, I love reading about life there. There is just something about the way they speak, the cadence and rythmn that appeal to me. I was so sad to hear of Mauve Binchy's passing. My new favorite woman's fiction author is JoJo Moyes.

I completely agree! I was able to visit Ireland last May, and it was everything I dreamed it would be. Absolutely beautiful country and people! Have you read Towers of Brierley by Anita Stansfield? Towers of Brierley It's set in Scotland, but I felt like it had the same feel as Ireland. It's a good, clean romance if you haven't read it before! And I'll have to check out the two authors you mentioned!

So envious of your trip. I'll check out your recommendation as well.
Sue
I like many different types, but I have the hardest time getting into contemporary romance. I think it's because I enjoy the fantastical element of being drawn into a different world from the one I occupy. But I agree with you guys as well. There is something I find especially intriguing about Ireland, and Scotland as well.
I like historical fiction best. I suppose reading is a form of escapism and when the book is set in a previous era, then this makes it even more so.
I like paranormal romances but have a very hard time finding books that have no sex in it. It's just so overdone, I want to find a paranormal book where an actual relationship blooms and buds with a human and a paranormal but no sex involved.I'm reading one now with Dragon shifters and wolf shifters and I'm 3/4 of the way the way through the book and there hasn't been any mention of any sex and it's such a nice thing. There's suspense and mystery and action and attraction but that's about it. I'm hoping it keeps this way since it's part of a series and I would like to read the whole series. It's the Zodiac Guardians series.
I enjoy many sub-genres of romance, but especially contemporary and historical westerns. My dad was career Air Force, so besides a couple years in England, we lived in the Rocky Mountain western US, so that, plus being a child of the 50's with all the TV westerns, cowboys, and also Air Force uniforms make me swoon! :D
I also love books set in the UK and Ireland, and my two favorite romance movies are the Kiera Knightley/ Michael McFadden version of Pride and Prejudice, and The Holiday with Cameron Diaz and Jude Law.
Witty banter between the H/h is a big plus. Love friends to lovers/Romantic comedies.
