My most recent new favourite was The Millstone... it was written ages ago but still feels pretty relevant today when think about what you want from life. And the tone it's written in is lovely, really dry and funny. I think it's massively undervalued, people should read it!
I read a book filled with short stories. While the book itself is far from a favourite there were stories in there which I really love. The book is/was called The Thing Around Your Neck.
I purchased the Glass Sword (Red Queen) It is an absolutely amazing book. Love the wording the authors uses. Here is a direct link I found. http://amzn.to/1YXz6Wl I hope you enjoy :)
Also not very new, but ever since reading Big Little Lies, Liane Moriarty has become one of my favorite authors. I then went back and read the rest of her stuff (although I haven't read her kids books yet) and loved it all. Big Little Lies is still my fave, though.
