Kent | 7 comments I really hope that I'm not the only one that has experienced this by the books I choose, but has anyone else noticed a large number of typos in the books the get on the Nook? At first I thought it may be the lesser known or popular books I found, but nearly every book I have on my NT now good, bad, popular or not has blatant typos of missing words or the obvious wrong word that makes you re-read a sentence to figure out what is meant. Frustrating.

Boy have I noticed! It's not just Nook books. I've found the same mistakes in Kindle, Sony, and Ibooks also. I believe that some of the errors are caused by auto spell check. Also, it is being taught in schools you no longer need to use commas in the same way we did when I went to school. I know this from a friend who teaches English in high school. I don't know why proof readers aren't picking up the other errors. I think it's crazy to do away with a lot of the commas. It makes it harder to understand the meaning the author is trying to express.

Thanks Scott.

Deidre (lilredrooster) Sometimes it's the author and getting past the editor, but I think sometimes words or sentences get lost when translated to an electronic format. I noticed some books with poor transfer are missing words, or have weird sentence breaks, which interrupts the flow of the text.

Louisa And hyphens where there should be none.

Michelle (mgauffant) Yes I have! I think it's an ebook thing.
Digital printing has made the publishing world uber lazy :(

Katharine (katharine_a) | 2 comments *merry eye twinkle* Am I the only one who has noticed that the title of this thread contains a typo? It should be excessive, rather than excesive. I'm not sure if that was accidental or intentional, given the topic. :)

It was definitely intentional as you guessed because of the title.
