You've listed three books that my daughter has been trying to get me to read - The Help, Water for Elephants, and The Guernsey... - but I keep saving them for that "special" time that never seems to come.
By the way, my daughter's name is Beth, so you make me think of her often. She's a missionary in Germany and I really miss her.

I'll post what I get done. I can read an average book in about 4 hours (depending on my interest) but it is just squeezing the time in between "all the other stuff" in life. :)
Beth wrote: "I can read an average book in about 4 hours..."No wonder you posted all those books, Beth! I'm a slow reader and will have to admit that I'm very envious. There's so much that I want to read, but will never have time.
Thanks for the friend request. It will be fun getting to know you as we share our thoughts on books.

I am too Beth, but I found my speed picked up a bit when I started reading on my kindle. There's something about being able to push the button for the next page that makes me charge right down the screen!

Hi Barbara. It was actually Carole that said she read slower. The system put my name instead of hers! I didn't always read fast either. I started reading as a young child and just got faster as I got older. My mother reads even faster than me! Not one of my kids even likes to read... not sure how that happened since I LOVE reading.

I have been reading about a book a week, sometimes faster depending on the book and life.
Barbara Ann wrote: "I found my speed picked up a bit when I started reading on my kindle."A lot of people say that, Barbara, and I've also found it to be true - although nowhere near Beth's speed! Maybe it has something to do with the screen size and a quick click to turn pages.
Beth wrote: "Not one of my kids even likes to read... "Isn't it funny how our children's reading habits can be so different from ours? I've been an avid reader since the first grade when my mom brought me a book twice a month on her payday (this was in the early 50's when Nancy Drew books cost $1.00 in hardback). But for the longest time, my daughter hated to read. Now she's an avid reader like me - only she reads literary and theological books. It was all I could do to read those in college!
My kids seem to think I read enough for everyone in the family! Haha! The hardest part is finding time. I'm actually sitting at piano lessons for my youngest and getting ready to squeeze some reading time in while I wait!
Currently I'm in the middle of re-reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, and I am reading Lover's Knot by Emilie Richards. I also just started a book called Natural Terrariums by Philip Purser because I plan to build a HUGE terrarium from scratch of my babies (my frogs).

I have several that I hope to read this September. It seems like they just keep piling up, haha.
I won two books from giveaways on here, so I plan to read and review Dark Currents by Jacqueline Carey and Paw Prints in the Moonlight: The Heartwarming True Story of One Man and his Cat by Denis O'Connor
In addition, I hope to read Defiance by C.J. Redwine, Almost Amish by Kathryn Cushman, The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club by Wanda E. Brunstetter and maybe Matched by Ally Condie.
We'll see how far I get, I guess, lol.
