Does anyone know if there will be a 4th book? I sure hope so!

Yes, there is. I met Jeanne Birdsall and she said she's currently writing the fourth book. It takes place five years later, apparently, but I'm still excited for it! She said (on her website, too) that it takes her about three years to write/publish a book, so it will probably be out in 2014.

So excited! I don't care how old I get, I'll still read these.

Bummer! Sadly the fourth Penderwick book will be coming out in the spring of 2015, not 2014. Now all us Penderwick fans will have to wait another year! What a shame...I was planning to get it for Christmas.

Ooh, I can't wait for the fourth Penderwicks. It's super weird, though, to imagine Skye seventeen and Batty eleven...Rosalind eighteen and Jane sixteen I can imagine, though. But Skye- 17??!!

I am hoping that it isn't a Little Woman repeat because I don't think I could make it through Skye and Jeffrey NOT getting together:(

Totally! Skye (and everyone else for that matter) will have so many more mature problems. I mean...17! Almost an adults! It will be so odd to read.

Yeah, it'll be hard on Skye, growing up is hard for everyone, but for Skye, it'll be the hardest. Remember when Skye and Jeffrey had that conversation about getting married? When is Jeanne Birdsall going to stop torturing us?

I believe so, but after the fifth book, she will be done...or at least that's what I've heard. Also, it will be SO much harder for Skye, not only because she's a tomboy, but because she is very beautiful, she won't see it. I feel like it will be a Peter Pan kind of thing. Skye knows she's going to grow up, she just doesn't want to admit it.

I don't know!I can't imagine them not being best friends! I also wonder about relationships in the family. I mean, what are Skye's feelings towards Ben? What are Jane's feelings towards Ben? Did Rosalind like her trip in NJ? Is that were it was?

I think that Jeffery will realize that he likes Skye far before Skye realizes she likes Jeffery. Skye just doesn't seem like the kind of person who thinks about her feelings a lot. (In fact, it seems like she would probably try to avoid her feelings...)

Definitely. I agree 100%. I think she will be all confused inside. Jeffrey of course will be nervous about telling Skye that their friendship is blossoming into something more. I also think that Jane will freak out once she sees the signs. I mean, she will probably predict it at the beginning of the book, and by the end, Skye and Jeffrey will FINALLY get together!

You do have a point. However, i think that the last book will be about Mr. Penderwick and his feelings about his girls growing up. By the fifth book, i predict, it will be 5 or so years after the fourth, so Rosalind will probably be i a serious relationship or married! Crazy huh? I think it will be a conclusion of all of the books.

It's so disappointing. But, it IS a lot of work to be an author. I mean, I've read about the process of making and publishing a book, and it takes FOREVER! Plus, the time it takes to actually write, revise, and edit the book! Imagine how much Jane Birdsall has to go through! And, most of the time, the editors and publishers reject your book multiple times for various reasons! It's a lot of hard work!
