Vaginal Fantasy Book Club discussion

For the most part I've tried to keep from commenting in the forums about this book (other than to answer a few questions and give links to buy it for those outside of the US) because I don't want to take away from your experience of reading something new and discussing it. That's not going to change.

But I wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who's read the book. This experience, having such a large group of people read the first anthology I ever edited, the first title published by my company, has given me a wealth of insight. From the compliments (which tell me where I did something right) to the criticisms (which tell me how to shape the next edition), everything you choose to share about your experience with Cthulhurotica helps me.

I especially wanted to thank the people who don't usually like short stories, but tried it anyway, and the people who don't usually like horror but gave it a shot. Thank you to the people who were nervous about mixing sex and scary monsters but still opened the book. Thank you to the people who were honest about what they didn't like, and thank you to the people who took the time to let me know which bits they loved.

It's my first time into reading anything in the Lovecraft universe and I enjoyed it so much that I'll definitely read H.P. Lovecraft's works and future Cthulhurotica anthologies.

I loves me some Cthulu!

I'm only up to The Cry in the Darkness but so far the stories are great.

Actually got me excited (turned on) in a few parts!

Thank you. For me, I was impressed by the unabashed nature of story one, "Descent Of The Wayward Sister", by Gabrielle Harbowy. I truly related too, even though I'm a man, her situation. She is in a new setting, worldly, away from her racy, and streetwise normal life. Thrust into her odd brother's mansion to rest and gain some relief from life's toils. Everything for the first 3/4 of the short was familiar to me, as I live across from a very old 1904 family mansion-which is much like the property described in the story. That said, it is very much like a museum, with strange sculptures(now I'm an art and history major and I CANNOT identify some of these books and artifacts she has obtained over the last century!) which again, made me feel akin to 'The wayward sister'. I won't be a spoiler, but this story short and unabashed sensually, it is satisfying. Very satisfying. I would be hard pressed to deny the 'event' with the 'book' or 'tome' of Cthulu...not to mention the narrative of the description of it's placement...I will say as the story drew to a close, the revelation of the 'thing' and it's final appearance was.....conflicting and disturbing, yet I still understood the maiden's motivations. Amazing story!
