A really great book for children in KS2 to read. This book looks at dealing with the death of a loved one, being a child from a mixed background, being a girl and young love (so probably one for the girls).http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Here's a review of a book I read on Saturday morning, when I should probably have been studying!http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Hi all ... here's my second review which took longer than expected :)http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

All of them or just the new ones?"
If you read a book in the summer and really enjoyed it, you could post links to share with your P group. Consider it a form of persuasive writing!

Have a look at Task 1 in the English task file, which will give you an idea of genres commonly covered in school literacy lessons and suggested authors.

Three great reviews, Riona! I really like Groosham Grange. Have you read any Eva Ibbotson? Her fantasy books for 8+ are great.
I really enjoyed this book and thought I would share it with the grouphttp://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... in a Viking Town
I also enjoyed reading this as a child and recently read it again!http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Here's my review of 'War Game' by Michael Foreman. This book would definitely spark a student's interest in History. A really beautiful book, enjoy!http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
A chilling tale that desribes one of the saddest events in Irish history but loved by all who read it..http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35...
This is my first review of the Autumn term - 'Beware of Boys'. http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Hi Daniel. Your review needs to be cut and pasted into the review box, or it won't show up at the end of the course. See the guide on UEL Plus if you're not sure how to do this.

Great reviews, everyone. Please make sure that you post links to your review, not the book, as some books you're reviewing have been reviewed by many other people and your fellow trainees will have to search through lots of reviews to find yours.
Just reposting my book reviews into this forum.http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Has anyone read any David Walliams books? I think I prefer him as an author rather than a comedian, but that's probably not saying much!
There have been quite a few reviews of David Walliams in other P groups. I really liked Gangsta Granny, which has been shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize this year http://www.booktrust.org.uk/prizes-an...

Thanks Laura! Great reviews. Michael Morpurgo is a fantastic author.
Emily Gravett has written some picture books as well as being an illustrator; I really like Meerkat Mail

http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... and http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... are links to your reviews, Daniel. I agree, Persepolis is amazing. It would be a great book to read and discuss with Y6 children during Refugee Week.

Here's a book I found in my Reception class's library during the first week of SBT1. Tadpole’s Promise by Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross

Thanks Jusna. Returning to books you loved as a child can be interesting; sometimes they stand the test of time and sometimes they don't!

Hi Alison, Apologies for posting the wrong link, shows how out of practice you get on posting correctly! Just in case the other post doesn't link to me at the end of the course, I thought I'd post it again... correctly.

Hi Alison, Here is another review of a book that I have come across in my placement called 'Can't You Sleep Little Bear?'. Reading this story with my class is the first time that I've experienced having a story read as a sensory story - so hope that you enjoy the review as much as I have enjoyed the book with my class.

Thanks,

That's a great review, Beth! Martin Waddell is a great picture book author, and that is a wonderful book- not least because it is one of the few with a "dad" figure caring for a "child" figure, which would be important if you had a class with a child living with their dad. Look out for Owl Babies too.

My year 4 class love David Walliams' books. They're reading Billionaire Boy at the moment so that may have to be my next read.http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
