Are comics too lowbrow for this esteemed group? :) Because that's what I'm reading now. Batman, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Ultimate Spider Man, Rachel Rising, etc. However I'd like to break into writing comics as well as fiction professionally so I have ulterior motives besides just enjoying the art and heroic tales. :) I'm also slowly reading a compilation of H.P. Lovecraft tales, which is prose.
Well, with all the members we have pounding at the doors, Orren, we do have to be careful. LOLBut personally, I'd rather you admit to reading Batman than pretend to read Ulysses. After that, I would be so intimidated, I'd have to go hang out with the Matched group instead.
I think we can admit Batman into any category. He's just that cool.I just finished Ender in Exile and Shadows in Flight, two new-ish additions to Orson Scott Card's Enderverse (which starts with Ender's Game).
I've just begun reading Steven King's Gunslinger (my very first King book), but I've only finished the introduction thus far.
Oh god. I've heard Stephen King's supposed to be amazing, I guess I should have started with one of his latest books. The first two chapters were almost painful to read. I'm just hoping it gets better from here.

When a little more alert, I am also re-reading Wired for Story: The Writer's Guide to Using Brain Science to Hook Readers from the Very First Sentence, one of the best writing books I've read in a while. It doesn't say a whole lot that's new, but it explains why the conventional wisdom works in a way that (for me, at least) makes it much easier to implement.
Today, of course, I am working on my latest WIP in Storyist. Have been stuck in chapter 3 since the end of August. I have to find a way out by Monday!
