I read this book when it came out and I really liked it! One of my favorite book of 2012. It only took me 2 or 3 pages to get into the story and to relate to the characters. I thought the world building was phenomenal. It was like watching a movie, I could see everything(the houses of the villages, the ''wall'', the forest...) in my head. And I really liked both Logan and Rachel. I thought Rachel was a very brave woman and I like that she doesn't sit and wait for things to get better. She takes actions.
I liked Logan ever more. Logan does sit and wait but he doesn't just wait, he thinks and make plans instead of acting impulsive. I loved his best/worst cases scenarios.
What I didn't really liked about Rachel was that after a while, I got that she was strong, and knew how to fight and use a knife, I didn't need her to repeat it every 5 pages. And sometimes I did wished she wasn't so impulsive and thought a little more before she acted. But you know what, I like that she has aspects of her that I don't like. I hate perfect characters that are beautiful, always say nice things, always take the best decious. I forget about those characters once I'm finished with the book but I don't forget characters like Rachel.
There wasn't anything specific that I didn't like about Logan. Sure sometimes, as the opposite of Rachel, he thinks a little too much instead of saying what he thinks or doing something about it, but once again, that's what made me love him so much.
I also really liked the ending. It left me satisfied (well as satisfied as I could be after all the things that happened...) but left me wanting for more.
I forgot to say that I loved reading a distopian book with 2 POV. Except Legend, do you guys know other distopian books with more than one point of view?

I did like the romance aspect and the ending was good.. no cliffhanger, but definitely more to the story.
I love this book! The plot, the setting, and especially the characters! Some say Rachel's impulsive but given the things that happened to her, the trauma and all that suffering, I'd say I don't think I'd have done things differently.Logan won my heart. Completely and irrevocably. Never mind that he's a total nerd. Even that's cute about him.
This is definitely one of my fave book ever. Can't wait for the rest of the series!

Within the walls of Baalboden, beneath the shadow of the city's brutal leader, Rachel Adams has a secret. While other girls sew dresses and obey their male Protectors, Rachel knows how to survive in the wilderness and deftly wield a sword. When her father, Jared, fails to return from a courier mission and is declared dead, the Commander assigns Rachel a new Protector, her father's apprentice, Logan--the same boy Rachel declared her love for two years ago, and the same one who handed her heart right back to her. Left with nothing but a fierce belief in her father's survival, Rachel decides to escape and find him herself. But treason against the Commander carries a heavy price, and what awaits her in the Wasteland could destroy her.
At nineteen, Logan McEntire is many things. Orphan. Outcast. Inventor. As apprentice to the city's top courier, Logan is focused on learning his trade so he can escape the tyranny of Baalboden. But his plan never included being responsible for his mentor's impulsive daughter. Logan is determined to protect her, but when his escape plan goes wrong and Rachel pays the price, he realizes he has more at stake than disappointing Jared.
As Rachel and Logan battle their way through the Wasteland, stalked by a monster that can't be killed and an army of assassins out for blood, they discover romance, heartbreak, and a truth that will incite a war decades in the making.
What did you like and dislike about Rachel and Logan?
What did you think about the world building?
