Welcome Diane
This group typically has a lot of good ideas about books, be more specific if you want some right away, or read the topics and lots will float by.

hey diane. welcome. i am reading City Of Joy right now. about 1/2 way into it and it is really a very good book. i saw you are reading a douglas preston book. i recently read The Monster Of Florence and really liked it too. if i have read any books you are interested in let me know and i can give my opinion on it
If you are up for something dark, The Road is an excellent book in my opinion.
The book I most recently raved about was A Thousand Veils. It is a really fast read, based on a true story about an Iraqi journalist trying to escape the country and Saddam's persecution.
Well, Larry claims to know Vern Einstein. And Jim got lost in the new age section of Barnes and Noble all day yesterday.
Watch out for Larry and Jim, though.
I'd take offense if it wasn't true ;-D.

I never actually claimed to know Vern. I claimed to know of him. Either would have been an outright lie -- but I just want to be accused accurately, Sally.Hi, Diane. Watch out. Jim and I are dangerous.

I don't know Diane. I sense you are telling a lie. That's good. You'll fit in here. Go to my profile and you see all of my 4 or 5 star books. Truthfully.
Hi Diane. Welcome to Terminal Coffee. I have an awful lot of favorite books. Have you got a few hours?
You have to put some kind of picture up before we can get to know you better. I mean ... even if it's a lie as mine is.
my daughter used to say when she was 6 and i took her to the library "when i get older i am going to live AND work here" as she loved the library so muchshe started working there when she was 15 and when she got out of college she began full time there. she is my inside at library and stashes new books and such for me (and no fines)
Your picture is a lie Larry

Oh I get it now your like a chameleon
Kevin - what was your last name? I'm so reporting you!Wow, I am so jealous. To be one of the first to get an eagerly anticipate book, instead of 240 on the holds list.
No, it's not that I WANT to correct people's spelling. It's that occasionally I can't help myself. Diane, I'm a children's and teen librarian, so a lot of my favorites are kids' books. I also love SF and Fantasy. One of my favorite authors is Robin McKinley, who wrote these:
Beauty A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beastand
The Blue SwordI also love Diana Wynne Jones and Terry Pratchett, British authors who write funny fantasy. Diana's humor is much, much drier than Terry's though.
I've also read tons of mysteries, though not lately. I think I've read everything by Agatha Christie, most of Ellis Peters, and quite a bit of Anne Perry and Sue Grafton.
Lets hope I don't see my shadow
