Maya was manipulative. I have no problem with anything else about her.

I never said I dislike Emily xD I'm fine with her. Actually, I have at least a mild dislike for every single character in the PLL series, but I don't especially dislike her or anything.

Maya = bad influence
Emily = don't dislike, but seems the most plain

I like them both

I personally don't like Emily. She gets annoying and too depressed, it's not her fault on the stuff that occur to her but she needs to learn how to control her depression. (SPOILER) when maya died i got even more annoyed by her. :( She gets repetitive with her depression. lol

It's been so long since I read the books with Maya in them that I don't remember enough about her to comment (but I didn't dislike while reading)
If it was any other book I wouldn't have really liked Emily because she's plain but in this series very few of the characters are likeable so she's one of my favourites.

I think she's manipulative because if Emily wanted to do something Maya had a way of making her feel guilty which is manipulative because it made Emily always be with her and there was more distance between her and her friends when they were trying to rekindle their friendship. If that makes any sense :)

I thought Maya was actually OK. I didn't really like Emily though...she wasn't as interesting as the other girls and she was more of a follower than a leader. And she had a crush on practically every new person she met, which I found pretty annoying :D I thought they were OK together though, because Maya sort of brought out the fun and outgoing side of Emily.

Maya was Emily's best conflict/story IMO. Her character plot weaken after they ended. Its a story that the author should have went back to in later books bc maya has a strength and self esteem about herself that emily lacked and needed.

I disagree that Maya is manipulative! Ali was like that but you don't see people yelling about Ali.

Maya- So mysterious and interesting.
Emily- I like her SO much better in the book!!!!! In the TV show she annoys me because she is so oblivious and just...yeah.

My favourite characters out of the girls are, Spencer and Aria. I love Spence because she is really mature and clever; she talks sense into the others and she takes charge over bad situations. I love that. I think Aria is also amazing because I connected with her from the very start of the book/tv series. She's a really interesting character. I like Hanna too, because she's like, let's get in there and find this bitch. She may not always be right, but she's a hell of a character. I'd say Emily is my least favourite. She's not a very exciting character. She's a lesbian. And that's pretty much it.

I found that too also like when she took the mick out of Emily's mum saying most Jazz singers smoked weed I found that really disrespectful and just asking for Emily's mum have more of a reason not to like her.

I completely agree I found this too I was kinda like god Emily you like a lot of people

I didn't hate Maya and Emily when they were dating, I hate Emily and Paige's relationship because I don't like Paige and I thought that Maya was a lot better, but I still think that Emily would look better with a guy

I didn't have a problem with them being together because it potrayed something that happens all the time. I didn't like Maya as a character though, I didn't hate her as much as a couple of other characters but I just didn't really enjoy her parts in the story.

I'm okay with Emily, but I cannot stand Maya because she was a self-centered, bitchy pot-head who didn't care about anyone's feeling but her own.
I'm okay with Paige though. I used to really like her in the beginning but I don't like the direction her character is taking lately. I would love for Emily to have a decent girlfriend for once.

I love Maya and Emily! I am talking for the show, so if I get things wrong, then sorry, because I only read the first two books, but I love Emily, I think she is so strong and she really is determined! I love the way Maya loves Emily! She is not afraid to show her love to Emily, even though they are both girls. I think were a really sweet couple.

I don't like Maya because i think she is obsessed with Emily and is contriver person. i think Emily is stupid and has to get over her Alison crush.

i love both of them. i wish maya was still alive and paige was the one who died.

I hate all the characters pretty much. Aria is insenstitive, Spencer is a cheater and doesn't care what she does so long as she sees herself as better than her sister, Hanna...she's a CRIMINAL, for goodness sake! As for Emily, she's not bad, I feel sorry for her, but she's a pretty dull character. I never liked Maya.

I don't hate Maya,but Emily is annoying and stupid she keeps obsessing over Alison so much it drives me mad.and then she let Alison out of the burning building in the Poconos, the girl needs help. I'm talking about the books btw.

I haven't heard of anyone who was against their relationship. But I know pretty of people who hate Paige/Page.

I know I hate Paige especially when she was about to tell the police that Alison was alive. I'm like who the hell does Paige think she is Emily's mother?

I don't dislike Emily and Maya. Emily seems to be the decent of them all. And i think Maya is much more better than Paige, and, Maya and Emily are cute together.

I don't know why everyone hates Maya, I myself are not a huge fan of either Maya or Emily, but they seem fine. I like Aria better. I think Maya is better than Paige (in the tv shows, because I've only read two books.)

Maya in the show is more likeable than Maya in the books. In the books, she seemed...meh. I couldn't understand what Emily saw in her.
