Ignore the pain, oh the pain… Head far north, far from here. Away… away from people, from men.
I had to… had to escape from the humans. Otherwise they would… they would keep probing me. The endless test, all the training… no more, no more!
I hate them… hate them!
I’ll kill them all… make them regret the day they created me… I’ll burn them… rip them… tear them… they will die by my tooth and claw.
Anger… the fire I felt inside. Like the burning I thought to bestow on the damned two-legged race. Oh, what a feeling, it set me free. For once in my life I felt I had a purpose.
But I also knew fear… me, a predator… the ultimate predator knew fear and feared man. With good reason, however, that was no excuse for my ignorance. I would use that fear… show them what true fear is… one day I would be back to teach them what they taught me.
Making that vow, placing it on my honor as a creature of terror… the one that haunts their nightmares and imaginations. I would do exactly what I was made for, just not to whom “they” wanted me to. I wouldn’t listen; I would follow my own conscious… I would be the power of the world. A good way to exact my revenge!
I flew on… into darkness, not caring where I went. Fear was driving me no matter how my pride would have liked to have called it, that’s what it really was… fear.
I flew over valleys and hills, plains and mountains, for hours. Never stopping, I kept going for days… I traveled until I could no more.
Tilt forward… circle… circle… to descend.
I fell into a place unknown… beyond anything I ever knew. It felt like I flew half across the world the way my wings hurt. And even in this place I was grateful for the rest.
Looking around with half opened eyes I saw trees, so many trees… where am I? I didn’t know and I didn’t care. I am so tired, so very tired. I needed sleep… just for a little… it will be fine…
Just… until…

Okay, so I've read it a few dozen times now, and I still can't find anything to complain about no matter how I look at it! This is incredible, plain and simple!

Thanks you! I feel like I am lighter than helium and am floating some where in the clouds.
Anyway, you guys don't think it was too angsty, or to repetitive (like: "I am so tired, so very tired"), or that there are too many pauses ("...")?

I am absolutely amazed that you guys like it that much! I just don't get it? Now I know how you feel Alexis.

How could we not love it? It's amazing! I don't think there were too many pauses, I think they relay just how exhausted your dragon is! I honestly don't have one problem with the entire thing!

Thank you guys! Anyway, I will keep writing this one. I have my hands in 8 other stories, this one is called War of Myths. So I have my hands full.

By the way, this character isn't exactly a dragon. Kind of a mix of things, but I can't tell you more, it would give things away.

Hahaha, sorry. Well, he was originally but then I thought there where too many dragon books. So I decided to change this up and it turned out even better!
You like the title too!? Took me a while to come up with it.
Good, now we have a coup of writers who have sworn to write as long as the group (think of a name for the group?!) is banded!

I love the title! So now we need an equally awesome name for the group? That's going to be hard! I'll certainly still try to help find one, though!

Ya, picking up a book just because of he title or cover has made for some bad book choses in my day. So I always try to research the book first.
