Isabella | 154 comments Is it terrible of me to say that I like the backwards name better than the correct one?

Cool fact, Lex! Do you have any more of those?

message 3: by Cole (new)

Cole (spectyr333) | 458 comments More! More! More!
I will think of some later myself.

Cool, now I am a smarter person!

message 5: by Cole (new)

Cole (spectyr333) | 458 comments I don't remember "lonely god?"
And no, I didn't know that about Brom! We learn something new everyday. If only it wasn't my school work right now. Hahaha!

message 6: by Cole (new)

Cole (spectyr333) | 458 comments Oh, okay.

message 7: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephaniemoody) | 16 comments Huh, interesting. It seems to me Paolini's books are strongly influenced by the things he is a fan of. They each make up very important parts of his story. Some people get upset, or offended by this, but I think it's beautiful that he pays homage to the things that inspire him.

message 8: by Cole (new)

Cole (spectyr333) | 458 comments That is one way of putting it.

Yeah, he can occasionally go overboard with the similarities.

I did know the one about John Palencar, but didn't know it was before Knopf. Huh, that's interesting. Did Paolini know Palencar because of his parents' publishing contacts?

He had a different name in the original draft? Ahh, what was it? I vaguely remember hearing something about it, but I am so scatterbrained sometimes, I can't remember what exactly I'd heard.
/endrandomthoughts

message 10: by Cole (new)

Cole (spectyr333) | 458 comments That is a good question, how did he know him before Knopf?
I did know that he named it after John Palencar, however, I didn't know it was before Knopf either. Wasn't his original name Kevin? I brain is trying to remember, because I do remember reading about it.

message 11: by Cole (new)

Cole (spectyr333) | 458 comments By the way, thanks Alexis for putting up this thread! It is only possible because of all you knowledge about this series!

message 12: by Isabella (last edited Oct 15, 2012 03:47AM) (new)

Isabella | 154 comments Uh, I think you need better trophies, Lex. Can't you at least have Saphira's movie-head on it? Thorn can be bronze, Saphira silver, and Glaedr can be gold! Why would you have a human head, when you can have a dragon's, after all?

message 13: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 154 comments You would, wouldn't you? If only everyone was so dragon-obsessed.

Anyway, bravo, Cole! Lex loves it when people can answer her wierd questions/riddles. Has she told you about her riddle fixation? She must know every one in the world by now, I think; she has notebooks full of them in her room.

message 14: by Cole (new)

Cole (spectyr333) | 458 comments I like the dragon's head idea! Because I would cut Eragon's head! Hahaha!
It is funny how information sticks in your head like that, huh? But in this case I think we remember this stuff because we love it!
Thanks for the trophy!

Oh, I didn't see those comments before.
Really you love riddles? Could you make a riddle thread? I would love to have a go at them!
And I am just as dragon/mythical creature obsessed!

message 18: by Cole (new)

Cole (spectyr333) | 458 comments Alexis wrote: "Haha! Okay, then: the Dragon Riders' swords are made from a material that actually exists on Earth. Do you know what it is?"

All I know is it was called brightsteel in the books. What is it?

What about you? What is you favorite creature?

message 21: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 154 comments Well, I love dragons, obviously, but I've kind of yielded them to Lex over the years, so I fell in love with the next beautiful beast to cross my path: a unicorn. They aren't as strong or terrifying, but there's just something so... magical about them. Unfortunately I've yet to read a good unicorn book, despite many attempts to find one.

message 22: by Cole (new)

Cole (spectyr333) | 458 comments Really? Well here is one, Birth of the Firebringer. I loved this series!
Have you read the Last Unicorn?
I see why you are having a hard time though. I love unicorns too, yes I admit it, so I have looked. Most of them are children's books so...
Which ones have you read?

message 23: by Cole (new)

Cole (spectyr333) | 458 comments Actually I don't know this one at all. Aahhh! I am losing my trophies!!!!
Why did you put the answer as a spoiler? Can I look at it, will it give anything away? Did you do it so that other people have a chance to answer it?
Well, that is what happens when you leave a a couple of people who like talking about this for half an hour! Haha!

I admit that I hardly even remember the names of most of the unicorn books I've read. Hunt of the Unicorn was a recent one, I know, but that was actually one of the worst ones. I haven't read the Last Unicorn, though it's on my to-read list, and I've never heard of Birth of the Firebringer. I'll be sure to look into it!

Firebringer is amazing! Read my review on it.Really? Hunt of the Unicorn was bad, I was hoping to read that one... :(
The Last Unicorn is a classic!

No, that is okay. It makes sense.

message 27: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 154 comments So, Lex, you never told us where Paolini got his inspiration for Cadoc's name. I know you've told me the answer at some point before, but I can't remember. Can I hear it again, please?

message 28: by Isabella (new)

Isabella | 154 comments Thanks, Lex! I can't believe I forgot that!

AWESOME! Don't apologize, it's amazing. Even with the "unfinished" background.

I know my guess was pretty basic, but yeah, all his writings are inspired by something, so... on target base guess, it is.
