He is one of my personal favorites, never a dull moment with him.

Okay, for some reason I totally forgot about Orik. He's my favorite dwarf ever! Now I feel bad about ignoring him! *lapses into miserable silence*
Oh, I hope so! I hate offending people! I fidget and worry and annoy everyone around me for days afterward--which also makes me feel bad. *sigh* Well, I never said I was particularly intelligent.

Hahaha! Well, some dragons have more or less toes on their forefeet than on their hind feet--though dragons usually aren't as human-like as dwarves, I'll admit. Maybe Paolini just wanted them to be interesting?
I think he was just trying to give them more cultural significance, their special number being dividens of 7 and all.
Cultural numbers are actually very common. We have some in the real world as well ads in books. Do you have a favorite number?

I think it has something to do with my delight when I finally learned how to spell it! (I'm terrible at spelling, so I get really happy whenever I convince my fingers to spell something right by instinct.)
8, huh? I like your reason. I sometimes have a hard time remember how to spell too, with dislexia and all.Really, no number? Well, mine is the number 3.
It's easier to apply a smaller number to things, maybe? I can see a castle with, say, 6 towers, but a castle with 117 towers? It makes me dizzy just thinking about it!
Actually, you know that series we have been talking about, Alexis (sorry for leaving you in the dark Bella), Vlad Taltos? Well in Steven Brust world everything is 17! I think he was trying to compare to the common number 7 in the bible.
Why, three you ask? I am not sure I have a rhyme or reason for it. I have always just like 3. It might have to do with my OCD though.
Ya, every one has it. From someone who has a bad case of it, having it control your life for so long, it becomes really apparent. I am a Germaphobe so (mine is not a small obsession compulsion) ... Been in dark places for a time because if it. Not my proudest moments but hey, we all have dark moments right?
I quite like Orik. He is funny and he made a good anchor for Eragon in the dwarves side of things. More of him would have been nice, but I got to see a good amount of him in Brisingr, so I'm happy.
Funny how he had friends in every race to really understand and gather them all together.I really like the dwarven politics.
It made me laugh how slow they take everything, but how seriously at the same time. I wish our politics in the US were more like Dwarven politics. :/
Maybe, it sounds nice... But when I think about us doing what they do I feel like we would just be more indecisive. I mean, that is why the humans have monoarchies.
Right.
I think you have to be a dwarf for dwarven politics to work.

Orik is awesome. That's all I have to say. He's awesome.
