Deedee | 96 comments And .... I'm already behind .... I thought it started at midnight tonight, and it's already been going for 16 hours.

But I can begin now ....

I've been reading Children of the Night but I started that yesterday so I don't think it counts for toppler. The next book I start does!

April | 970 comments Deedee, I almost made the same mistake! If I wouldn't have read Debra's post about how her and Almeta were going to take a nap before the toppler, I would have completely missed out on today's reading!

Deedee | 96 comments I'm thinking next book will be Green:
His Excellency George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis
I've read Joseph J. Ellis's books American Sphinx: The Character of Thomas Jefferson and Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation and felt I really learned something new and interesting about those people and that historical time. I've had His Excellency: George Washington on my mental TBR ever since it came out in 2004 and so it's about time that I get around to it.

I've got a stack of other books for this week sitting here -- I probably can't get to all of them, especially as I need to pick out an Orange book (since I missed August).
The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling The Stranger by Albert Camus The Secret Adversary (Tommy and Tuppence, #1) by Agatha Christie Edward VI The Lost King of England by Chris Skidmore Sleeping Naked is Green How an Eco-Cynic Unplugged Her Fridge, Sold Her Car, and Found Love in 366 Days by Vanessa Farquharson The Graves Are Walking The Great Famine and the Saga of the Irish People by John Kelly Tempting Faith An Inside Story of Political Seduction by J. David Kuo

Deedee | 96 comments Thanks for all the kind words ... now I don't feel so worried that I started late.
Reading 2 now, both GREEN:
Sleeping Naked is Green How an Eco-Cynic Unplugged Her Fridge, Sold Her Car, and Found Love in 366 Days by Vanessa Farquharson His Excellency George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis

Deedee | 96 comments I've finished my first book of the Toppler (yeah!)

Sleeping Naked is Green How an Eco-Cynic Unplugged Her Fridge, Sold Her Car, and Found Love in 366 Days by Vanessa Farquharson
Sleeping Naked is Green: How an Eco-Cynic Unplugged Her Fridge, Sold Her Car, and Found Love in 366 Days (2009) by Vanessa Farquharson (Paperback, 267 pages)
Vanessa Farquharson for one year made a change in her life to live more "green". She kept an online blog during the year. This book includes the more interesting posts from that year. And, yes, one of the days her "green" thing was to sleep naked LOL.

Rookies earn an automatic free 100 pages!
Book= 265 pages
+365 pages

Witches Brew: =Read either an indigo, green or red book for the Rainbow Challenge (Only one fiction book is allowed; non-fiction books are unlimited.)
+500 pages

= 865 pages

Claim a Treat:
=Free: Read an “Orange” book for the Rainbow Challenge and have it count
(so 865 - 500 = 365 toward Treat #2)

I'm currently reading
His Excellency George Washington by Joseph J. Ellis but I'm going to start an Orange book tonight (I usually have more than one book going).

message 17: by Deedee (new)

Deedee | 96 comments Topplers are such a good idea! His Excellency: George Washington has been here on my bookshelf for several years now and this challenge pushed it off my shelf and into my hands.

I've finished Odd Apocalypse but I finished it 12 hours after the end of toppler.

Now I have a strategy for the NEXT toppler. #1: start the toppler on the correct day and not 24 hours later LOL.

message 18: by Ava Catherine (new)

Ava Catherine | 4258 comments Congratulations on your toppler! George Washington isn't for sissie's! I read that book, so I know it is a slower read than some other books. You have accomplished a lot this week. Way to go, girl!!! ; )

Yes, and you don't want to be 24 hours late on a 24 hour long toppler. :)

message 23: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments You did a fantastic job! Especially considering your late start. And Janice is right on your timing for the next Toppler :)

Usually they are only for 24 hours. Frantic reading while staying up all night! It is a fun time.
