So in Foundation, the Scientists have to figure out how to save civilization. They employ math as a tool to ride it out. Let civilization collapse and then hasten the reformation. So how do we deal with our current situation? Unless our politicians radically change, we will have a financial collapse. And the base problem is not the politicians but we the people. Do we use the Foundation model or perhaps employ some time of revolution?
Many Series come to mind. The Foundation Series, The Dune Series, the Lensmen Series, The Robot Series. Not sure what Paul Krugman would have to say that can be useful in any way.
But i enjoy the Foundation Series because of the all encompassing storyline from millenia past to millennia future..like the Robot Series.
The thing I have always loved about "Foundation" is the way Asimov so perfectly melded many beloved conventions of space opera (galactic empires, easy travel between planets, etc) with hard science fiction (psychohistory).
Hi I would love to buy this book with the Paul Krugman foreword but it's no longer available anywhere…. Anyone has any tips? Thanks so much!
